Article from my friend Tim Saltsman of the Black Creek Chapter of Abate of Fl Inc.

As usual this article will not be about motorcycling but, of course, it will be a reflection of the demise of liberty. Most of you are aware of the ruling declaring the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional. Does this truly represent a threat to the fabric of our democracy?  Not only is it a threat, I believe it to be the death knell of any and all freedom.

Pope Leo XIII stated that “ to exclude the Church, … from life, from laws, from the education of youth, from domestic society, is a grave and fatal error. A state from which religion is banished can never be well regulated.”

Since the founding of this nation was predicated on the belief of divine justice we must surely ask ourselves why would the founding fathers create an amendment that they would construe as a means to remove all references to Providence. They did not! The intent of the separation of church and state was to prevent the institution of a state mandated and supported religion. The taxation of the Methodist to support the Baptists is what that separation was intended to prevent. It surely was not to stop a school child from saying Grace before her meal in the school cafeteria or from praying before that final exam.

We as a nation have worked very hard to see that the tyranny of the majority is not instituted to be slavish on the minority. For us to allow the minority to create a nation that abhors the notion of free worship and to make it a matter of law whether I can pray in public is a nation falling from it’s principles. If we carry this idea to the extreme and allow that offence cannot be tolerated at all, will it mean that all spires must be removed from all churches, that all domes removed from the mosques, that no churches can be seen from a public roadway.

We are all aware that this nation was founded in pursuit of religious freedom because people were being persecuted for their beliefs in their home countries. Now we are being subjected to intolerance of another form, an atheist has declared that no reference to Providence shall be seen in the public domain. If this gentleman does not wish to use the words “under God”, he may omit it.

A child interviewed for television here in Jacksonville remarked that almost everyone had a God, whether that God was called Yahweh or Buddha or Vishnu or Allah it did not matter as long as we recognized that our nation was under divine protection.

So how is this effecting liberty? Well, to me, if we continue to allow the elimination of morality and a sense of ethics (things taught by religious beliefs) to be removed from the public domain we will see more corporate theft, more government representatives tried for crimes, more crimes in general and less freedom to try to stem the tide of this lawlessness. This certainly will result in a police state that will devour liberty at an incredible rate.

No matter what religion you adhere to please pray for our nation and its continued health.
